Thousand Person Tribe ("TPT", "we", "us"), co-owned by Catharine O'Leary and Tom Matzen, operates the Results Portal and co-hosted giveaway events (together, the "Services"). This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We are a Canadian business and comply with Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) and applicable privacy law.

What we collect

  • Your name and email address, which you provide when you join a giveaway.
  • Your answer to the "biggest challenge" question, which helps us recommend relevant resources.
  • Usage analytics — for example, which tools you view or use in the portal — collected with a session identifier.

We do not collect payment information through the Services. The giveaway and Results Portal are free.

How we use your information

  • To give you access to the Results Portal and deliver giveaway resources.
  • To send you membership details, giveaway information, and — with your express consent given at registration — newsletters and promotions from TPT.
  • To improve the portal using aggregated, anonymized analytics.

Sharing with giveaway co-hosts

When you register for a giveaway event, you subscribe to the email lists of that giveaway's co-hosts and consent to receiving their newsletters and promotions. To make that possible, we share your name and email address with the co-hosts of the specific giveaway you registered for. This is disclosed at the point of registration and is the only sharing of your contact information we do. Each co-host is responsible for its own email practices, and you can unsubscribe from any co-host's list independently at any time.

What we never do

  • We never sell your personal information.
  • We never share your email address with anyone beyond the giveaway's co-hosts and TPT.
  • We only share analytics externally in anonymized, aggregate form that cannot identify you.

Email and unsubscribing (CASL)

Every commercial email we send identifies the sender and includes a working unsubscribe link. You may withdraw your consent at any time by clicking unsubscribe in any email or by contacting us at the address below. Unsubscribe requests are honoured promptly and no later than 10 business days after receipt.

Cookies and local storage

The portal uses browser sessionStorage and similar technologies to remember that you have opted in during your visit and to associate your session with usage analytics. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.

Data retention and security

We keep registration data for as long as needed to operate the Services and meet legal obligations, and we use reputable infrastructure providers with industry-standard safeguards to store it. If you ask us to delete your information, we will do so unless we are legally required to retain it.

Your rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information at any time by emailing us.
